THE PROCESS

The addition of lighting to an artwork

For the Amsterdam Light Festival, the artists design an artwork themselves. And where the integration of LED is needed, OneEightyOne will assist. With our knowledge of LED products, we brainstorm with the artists about which products match their artwork best. After the delivery of a sample or a mock-up that the artist is happy with, we start with customizing the chosen products and the integration of the artwork. It is also very important to hide the cables, power supplies and controllers. Slide to the right to check out some projects we have collaborated on.

15000 and more

Unimaginable but true: Amsterdam has more bicycles than inhabitants. This beautiful project of Studio Klus responds perfectly to this fact. This artwork visualises the 15.000 bicycles that end up in the Amsterdam canals every year. OneEightyOne has customized and mounted the white NeonFlex for the bicycles which are hanging on the edges of the canals.

Northern Lights

This project of Aleksandra Stratimirovic made it possible for once to see the Northern Lights from Amsterdam. A couple years later, this work was shown again in Saudi Arabia on the Noor Riyadh Festival. Everyone passing by can enjoy this dancing light curtain that was stretched out over the water. The curtain consists of 100 custom-made DiGi tubes which are suitable for outdoor use. With this, the effect of the Northern Lights is optimally imitated.
