The W hotel is known as a luxurious lifestyle hotel. Originally, this hotel is from New York City but nowadays there are dozens of W hotels in large bustling cities around the world. For the W hotel in Amsterdam, OneEightyOne customized the lighting for the imposing logos, commissioned by Willem van der Sluis of Customr. You'll find one next to the entrance and the other one in the entrance hall. With this dynamic lighting and the right content, the luxurious appearance of the W hotel is optimally visible. A unique solution that has never been done like this before.

About the Project

THE PROCESS

Good branding

For lighting up the logo in the entrance hall, we used 16mm RGBW DiGi LED strips. These strips could be attached to plates in the shape of the logo. The plates were then delivered to the sign maker who built it into the logo.

Creating recognition

We used 1600 modules for the logo outside, which means that every LED is individually controllable. The integration of the digital LED lighting was conducted in our workshop, after which the complete sign could be connected by the home installer. We programmed the content ourselves on location, in close consultation with our client and the end consumer.

Play the right content

To maintain their luxurious appearance forever, it's necessary to play the right content at the right time. That's why the content can be changed easily with an app for your phone, tablet and laptop. The dynamic and pixel-controlled LED products run on the DiGidot control system which makes it possible to play all the desired patterns.
